Hyderabad: Speeding Mercedes jumps signal, hits couple on bike, husband killed

A man, who was travelling with his wife on a bike, was killed after being hit by a speeding luxury car on Friday at the busy Cyber Towers junction in Hyderabad. The driver of the car was reportedly in an inebriated state and had jumped a signal before hitting the bike.

A man, who was travelling with his wife on a bike, was killed after being hit by a speeding luxury car on Friday at the busy Cyber Towers junction in Hyderabad. The driver of the car was reportedly in an inebriated state and had jumped a signal before hitting the bike.

The incident took place around 1:15 am on Friday.

The speeding Mercedes Benz car hit the bike, killing Gautam Dev while his wife Sweta Srivani, who was riding pillion, was critically injured and was rushed to a hospital.

According to police, the driver, identified as M Kashi Bishwanath, was found to be in an inebriated state and was coming after attending a party at a pub. He has been booked under culpable homicide not amounting to murder section and taken into custody. The accused is a software engineer.

Police said he was driving his friend's car. The owner of the car is from Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa and is said to have a political background, police said.
