Mumbai Police arrested a woman with 30 kgs of Marijuana in the wee hours on December 26. A manhunt has been launched to nab the woman's accomplice who remains at large, officials of the JJ Marg police station said.
Along with her male accomplice, the woman was passing JJ junction in a taxi with three bags full of marijuana weighing over thirty kilograms.
As the vehicle reached JJ junction, it was apprehended by Mumbai police as part of routine checking to enforce night curfew.
The taxi, in which the accused were travelling, was third in line to be inspected when the male accomplice fled from the spot. This raised suspicion among the police prompting them to rush towards the taxi.
Further inspection of the Rexine bags found in the taxi by beat marshal 4 and mobile 1 team of the JJ Marg police station led to the discovery of large amounts of marijuana. The value of the seizure has been pegged at Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, the woman is being interrogated. Her statements are expected to lead the Mumbai Police to her accomplice.
Earlier this month, the Mumbai zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested two major drug suppliers in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput case. The NCB also arrested a major drug supplier and peddler, identified as one Regale Mahakal. Officials confirmed that it was Regale Mahakal who supplied drugs to Anuj Kehswani, one of the dealers arrested in September in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
